Deep within the captivating rolling meadows, lived a boy named Shepherd. His life was mostly untarnished, and unsophisticated. His primary duty was mainly to tend to his flock of sheep.

Their soft bleating and the murmuring of the gales across the lone tree on the mountaintop were his only companions. Day in day, guarding his responsibilities inculcated in him a feeling of calm satisfaction.

However, there were the occasional moments website of loneliness, when the shepherd boy would pine for companionship. In one such instance from sheer tedium, the shepherd boy conceived a naughty plan.

Narratives of wild beasts prowling on sheep had been around for a while in the hamlet. So, the boy opted to used this fear and played a joke on the townsfolk.

One day he ran into the village shouting “Wolf! A wolf is attacking my sheep!” The frightened villagers rushed up the hills to help but found nothing threatening.

The boy laughed at the puzzle on their faces. This trick continued for a few days more. However, one day, a real wolf actually attack the herd. The shepherd boy ran for aid shouting “Wolf, Wolf!” But this time, no one responded.

Frustrated and alone, the boy battled against the wolf but managed to protect only few of his sheep. Devastated, he went back to the village only to be met with a reprimand on honesty and the results of crying wolf.

The story of this shepherd boy has been passed down generations as a mediaeval parable for teaching the value of honesty, the consequences of lying and the risks of crying wolf. Moreover, it highlights how trust once broken, is difficult to reclaim. It's a story as relevant today as it was then.
